About a month or 2 ago, I was on tretinoin. Of course I was using the 0.1% which I got from my dermatologist. She did say that it’s pretty strong and that I would be peeling. So I decided to use it one night and 2 days later, my skin was reddish, dry, and flaky. In another day, it started peeling.
So I immediately went through my stash to look for something that would soothe and moisturize my skin and at the same time not aggravate the situation. The only times I remember having that kind of sensitive skin was whenever I’d be doing a peel. But this wasn’t a one time peel. I planned on doing this (using tret) regularly because I want to reap its anti-aging benefits. I found a cream but wanted something for daytime use that wasn’t as heavy.
Then one day, after my Baguio trip with the husband, one of my favorite Kbeauty sellers, SkinKraves, got in touch with me and wanted to give me a product of my choice just coz. Not for me to review but they just wanted to do something nice. So now we come to my product choice — the Klairs Rich Moist Serum.
It comes in a clear plastic bottle that has a pump type dispenser which has a cover so yes, perfect for travel because it won’t break, spill, or accidentally pump out product.
According to the Wishtrend website (the makers of this brand) this is a:
A magical skin care serum that makes your skin softer and replenished with moisture.
Keep your skin radiant and glowing throughout the day !
According to the label on the bottle, this serum is easily absorbed and immediately makes the skin feel softer and replenished.
Not sure if you can see it clearly but here the ingredients:
Water, Sodium Hyaluronate, Butylene Glycol, Dimethyl Sulfone, Betaine, Natto Gum, Propanediol, Polyquaternium-51, Disodium EDTA, Centella Asiatica Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Lysine HCL, Proline, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Acetyl Methionine, Theanine, Chlorphenesin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Illicium Verum(Anise) Fruit Extract, Citrus Paradisi(Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Paeonia Suffruticosa Root Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Panthenol, Luffa Cylindrica Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract, Beta-Glucan, Althaea Rosea Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Apium Graveolens (Celery) Extract, Brassica Oleracea Capitata (Cabbage) Leaf Extract, Brassica Oleracea Italica (Broccoli) Extract, Brassica Rapa (Turnip) Leaf Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit/Leaf/Stem Extract
The texture of the serum reminds me of the Cosrx Snail Essence in that it feels KINDA slimey. Ok so maybe not slimey but slippery… not stringy like that way snail slime is.
But once you start spreading it on your skin, you’ll immediately feel the relief it brings. I know I felt it when I was on tret. My face felt like it was parched and drank it up right away. The serum was absorbed in less than 20 seconds too! But of course my face was dry and sensitive so I wasn’t surprised that it immediately absorbed it — even when I doubled the layer.
When I wasn’t on tret anymore and my skin was back to normal, I tried it on again to see if it was just a fluke. And no it wasn’t. The serum was immediately absorbed and my skin did feel replenished.
Of course I have to test my skin’s moisture level with my handy dandy skin analyzer and as you can see, there’s big jump in terms of water and oil levels.
Final thoughts? I’m so glad I received this serum. With the weather in the Philippines, this is a must for me and my oily skin. On days where I don’t want to layer on serum after serum, I just use this and a moisturizer. Sometimes I even forego the moisturizer and do 2 or 3 layers of this. It keeps my skin moisturized without being heavy, sticky, or oily.
Would I repurchase? Yes definitely!
